The Linden Jean Book Collection is a series of seven picture books created for Sound!Start Phonics, a systematic synthetic phonics program. The series includes A Clever Plan, No Bother!, Dragon Quest, The Cheeky Goblin, Mr Zute And The Pesky Peach, Pool Park Rescue, and Little Blue’s Fantastic Plan.

The illustrations for these books were specifically created to aid the development of children’s reading by providing straightforward yet appealing visualisation of the words and sounds being taught. Linden Jean requested a consistent and clear style and palette to apply across the entire series, which would encourage engagement without distraction or confusion. I worked in tandem with Jean to create a fully illustrated phonics program that delivers literacy development through charming picture books.
